Oatmeal for Lunch

I’m eating oatmeal for lunch, again. Do you ever get to the point where there are no groceries in your house, and you are anxiously awaiting your next paycheck so you can go buy some? We are at that point. I ate the last of the “good” bread last night for my dinner sandwich. My daughter was working so she got fed at work; my husband was serving at the rescue mission so he got fed as well. I was fine with a sandwich, really. Even though the bread was one of the last pieces and not especially soft anymore.

My daughter grabbed the bread bag this morning to make some toast.

Her: “is this bread still good?”

Me: “sure, I used it last night to make a sandwich.”

She digs a piece out from the middle and examines it.

Her: “you call this good?”

I see a round, fuzzy patch developing in the middle of the bread.

Me: “that wasn’t there last night.”

So she tosses it. Grabs her Lactaid out of the fridge (she gets stomach aches with regular milk) and sniffs it. Decides it’s not good anymore so she does what any good teenager would do, she sticks it back in the fridge.

Well luckily she works at 11:00 so she can eat again at work.

I think I will make pancakes for dinner.
